Fool's Gold
Continuing the Women in Harmoniemusik initiative, Rose Craig Tyler and LADYBAND Minneapolis lead a consortium for a new chamber winds piece by Gala Flagello entitled Fool's Gold. The work will be approximately 10 minutes and will be scored for double wind quintet. Fool's Gold will meld glistening textures and glinting rhythmic motives to explore the concepts of success, strength, and perceived value, examining whether all that glitters is indeed gold. The unique timbres of the ensemble will all be featured to evoke the hope of potential, the eagerness of ambition, and the disorientation of misperception. Like uncovering pyrite while in search of precious metal, Fool's Gold will twist and turn with trickery and tenacity.

Instrumentation: Double woodwind quintet (piccolo, flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bass clarinet, 2 horns, 2 bassoons)
