Spellbound
Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble
~Nois and the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts lead the consortium for a new concerto for saxophone quartet and wind ensemble by Gala Flagello. Spellbound (2027) will be a 12- to 15-minute concerto for saxophone quartet and wind ensemble that explores magic in culture, fairy tales, and moments that seem magical. Each of the work's three movements will evoke the experience of feeling enchanted, bewitched, and charmed. The unique colors and qualities of the wind ensemble will be featured alongside the virtuosity of the sax quartet as both ensembles traverse phantasmal textures, spirited rhythmic motives, and ethereal energy.
