Deception, Hope, Longing, and Grit explore character, pacing, and texture as the trombonist navigates the intrigue of twisting implied harmony and the beauty of all registers of the instrument. These études were constructed not only as exercises but as miniature pieces, distilling entire narratives into brief but impactful scenes for the performer to interpret.
