Seasons

Seasons (2017) utilizes the time-honored programmatic structure of movements that sonically explore autumn, winter, spring, and summer in an improvisatory, open instrumentation format. Any number of performers on a variety of instruments are asked to interpret the piece's graphic score using its descriptive text, registral scale, dynamic trajectories, and gestural drawings as guides. Seasons illustrates the leaf-filled gusts of autumnal breezes, crystalline snow of winter, lively rainfall of springtime, and intense heat of summer, encouraging the audience to envision a year of nature's challenges and gifts.
